Course duration: 2 days

Target Audience: Course is intended for all personnel acting or standing-in as Area Authority in AzSPU.

Training Objectives and Expected Outcomes: Provide a good and thorough understanding of the key elements as listed, to enable those persons designated as 'Area Authorities' to carry out their duties safe and efficiently within the parameters set by the BP Safe Systems of Work Systems.

Course content :

Day 1

•  GHSE Expectations
•  Lessons learned from the past - Piper Alpha and Texas City.
•  Types of Work Permits and specific activities the permit covers and key controls for each of the permits
•  An in-depth instruction on all the Accountabilities, Rolls and Responsibilities of the Permit to Work System as listed below:
•  Area Authority (AA)
•  Performing Authorities (PA)
•  Isolating Authority (IA)
•  Control Room Operator (CRO)  
•  Permit to Work Coordinator (PTWC)
•  Authorised Gas Tester (Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3)
•  Stand-by Man or Entry Attendant (SB)
•  Firewatcher (FW)
