Aims:
For the participants to be competent resuscitation and the management of shock, bleeding and burns. Upon successful completion of a practical and theory assessment a certificate of competency is issued.

Outcomes:
• describe legislation and documentation
• describe principles of first aid
• place a casualty in the recovery position (demonstration & practice)
• understand the respiratory system
• understand the circulatory system
• apply Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation CPR (demonstration & practice)
• be able to use the Automated External Defibrillator
• recognise and manage anaphylaxis
• deal with shock
• control bleeding & infection control
• deal with soft tissue injuries
• recognize and manage fractures (demonstration)
• manage a burns casualty
• evaluation of performance and stress management
